BDA has been helping people to start new businesses and assisting existing businesses to grow through Business Gateway contracts since 1999.
Currently BDA is providing a mix of training, start-up advice and business growth assistance in several areas including Inverclyde, East Dunbartonshire and West Dunbartonshire.
Growth Advisory Service
BDA's specialist Growth Advisers have deep personal experience dealing with a wide range of business challenges.  Through Business Gateway's 'Growth Advisory Service', they provide valuable help and advice to assist business owners and leaders to overcome barriers to growth.  Typical projects have included assistance with funding applications to banks, RSA and other funders; help to expand into new and challenging export markets; innovation support and protection of intellectual assests.  Our specialists are selected based on their experience, knowledge and market experience to ensure the best fit for the clients' needs.
One-to-One Start-Up Advice
All of our Start-Up Advisers have personal experience of starting and growing a new business.  By really understanding the challenges faced by start-up clients they are able to provide practical, meaningful advice on a wide range of start-up issues.
Training Sessions
BDA delivers a wide range of training events for Business Gateway including Busiess Planning, Bookkeeping, Marketing, Sales and a number of specialist online and technology topics such as Social Media for Business and Search Engine Optimisation etc.

Additional projects are undertaken for Business Gateway via the various local authoities to provide support to both new and existing businesses.

Employability Fund for Self Employment

Skills Development Scotland - SDS - is the government body that works with learning and Skills organisations to strengthen Scotland’s sustainable economic development.

BDA delivers the 'Employability Fund for Self-Employment' option helping people to move from unemployment into self-employment.  Through the Employability Fund, and its predecessor Training for Work, BDA has been assisting SDS clients since 2003.

Employability Fund clients meet with one of our advisers and are given help, advice and the opportunity to attend our free workshops, whilst still receiving benefits.

Digital Boost

Digital Boost is a Scottish Government programme that helps business owners in Scotland learn how their business could benefit from digital upskilling,  Digital Boost is delivered via Business Gateway in each local area.


Digital Boost includes training, guides, tutorials, workshops, one-to-one advice and consultancy.  BDA's experienced technology advisers have been delivering Digital Boost services to start-up and growing businesses in the West of Scotland.

Business Support Services

Since 1999 BDA has delivered a diverse mix of contracts and projects for public sector clients.  These have ranged from self-employment support for unemployed people through the DWP New Deal programme, to helping creative start-up businesses in Renfrewshire Council's InCube hub in Paisley.
